To make a change, I must start with the man in the mirror. To make a change, I must start with the man in the mirror. The age old proverb “No man is so great, that he can’t bend to help a child.” Still, these proverbs are so true in making changes in this world. As Clinkscales traveled around the world, met people, saw the new ideas, and learned different cultures, he realized a major problem in the Macon County area. We are a diminishing community. He too was a part of the problem, but wants to become a part of the solution and bring back his resources to aid in the progression of our future.
Seniors are living longer and the need for long term care is needed in the Macon county area. We have a few seniors who prefer home health care over the local nursing homes; however, they are still dying off without the children returning home. Nor are they claiming/maintaining their family heirlooms. Hence, allowing a non-family member administrator of their estate. We are allowing too many homes and properties to become condemned undesirables and sold in “Estate Sales” and “Tax Sales”. Clinkscales would like to bring back that pride in the community, getting our citizens involved in the Estate Planning process. Encouraging our younger citizens to take ownership in the family property and empowering them to revive our county.
Our young citizens growing up here don’t have the opportunities nor desire to develop any long term goals of staying at home. We don’t have the corporate America jobs; therefore, our youth graduating high school/college are going away and not returning home. As a whole, not enough high school or college graduates are remaining in the area. Furthermore; the locally/family own business are not being passed down to a younger member of the family or the community. Let’s give a means of hope to our youth.
To the Black Ivy League University Alumni, we know that a greater county is a county that involves and take care of everyone. We have to be open minded to support and develop new local business. Let’s get creative and bring in the national chains. Too often we shop outside the Macon county area, yet along across the state boundaries. Our university students are asking the right questions, “Why don’t we have the hotels, restaurants, theaters, shopping centers?” It is time to encourage our students to get involved in the local Chamber of Commerce and municipal government to become a part of the economical solution.
To do unto others as you would have others do unto you” these are more than just words on paper. It’s a base line for our laws and a way of life. Half of the problems in the world can be resolved by simply asking, how I would want to be treated when confronted with life’s conflicts? Remember the old cliché “What Would Jesus Do?” Just give others the same respect that you would request from them. As you choose the Powers of Attorney, they should not be exempt from this Golden Rule. Just as you trust them, they should in return treat you and your circle of family/friends in the same manner. Too often our seniors are being taken advantage over and not given the proper care.
